เรื่องราวของ “เทรเวอร์ “ เด็กชายวัย 12 ขวบ อาศัยอยู่กับแม่ที่ติดเหล้าและไม่มีค่อยเวลาให้ ส่วนพ่อทิ้งครอบครัวไป ทำให้เขาต้องดูแลตัวเอง จึงเป็นเด็กที่มีความเป็นผู้ใหญ่เกินตัว
วันหนึ่งคุณครูวิชาสังคมศึกษา ให้การบ้าน ให้นักเรียนไปคิดวิธีที่จะทำให้โลกดีขึ้น หรือการเปลี่ยนโลก (Change the World) ซึ่งเทรเวอร์ก็ได้คิดทฤษฎีหนึ่งขึ้นมา นั่นคือ ทฤษฎี Pay It Forward หรือการจ่ายล่วงหน้า หลักการคือ เขาจะช่วยเหลือคนสามคน และขอให้สามคนนั้นไปช่วยคนอื่นอีกสามคนต่อกันเป็นลูกโซ่ ไปเรื่อยๆ ก็จะมีคนทำความดีมากขึ้น โลกก็จะน่าอยู่และสงบสุขมากขึ้นนั่นเอง แต่มันก็ไม่ง่ายอย่างที่คิด!!
